First purblished in 1980, Enfolded in Love has sold more than 120,000 copies and has become an established classic as interest in Julian of Norwich has grown. Enfolded in Love is both a perfect introduction for newcomers to Julian and an ideal resource for her devotees. This book is part of the acclaimed Enfloded in Love series of books which presents selections from the spiritual classics in a form suitable for daily reading and meditation.
Julian of Norwich was an anchoress, a woman who dedicated her prayerful life to God, living in a cell attached to a church in Norwich in the late-fourteenth/early-fifteenth century. She wrote Revelations of Divine Love, 'showings' that she received from God, which is the first book known to have been written by a woman in English. More than six hundred years after her life, Julian has an extraordinary following throughout the world. The depth of her spiritual commitment and theological insight is as relevant to us today as it was to her then. In Love Enclosed offers short extracts from Julian's writings, arranged for daily devotional reading. First published in 1985, this wonderful collection has brought comfort and hope to tens of thousands of people around the world. This new edition curated by Fr Luke Penkett, archivist and librarian of the Julian Centre, presents her words anew for a modern generation. The original edition was edited by Fr Robert Llewelyn, chaplain of the Julian Shrine.

Based on a series of retreat addresses to clergy, parishes and religious communities given over a period of five years, this is one of the most acclaimed guides to Christian contemplative prayer. First published 30 years ago, it is truly a modern spiritual classic. Robert Llewelyn provides a practical yet profound guide for anyone venturing on the path of prayer and contemplation. He explores Julian of Norwich's way of prayer and discovers its enduring wisdom for today. He also finds essential insights into the contemplative life from Julian's contemporary, the anonymous author of The Cloud of Unknowing. The treasures of this medieval English mystical tradition are brought to fresh life with simple and homely examples that illustrate their lasting appeal and power for today.
In this new edition of Robert Llewelyn's classic work on prayer, the author draws on the teaching of Julian of Norwich, and maintains that we project our own anger on to our image of God, whereas the compassionate love of God is acting at all times to abate and dispel the wrath within ourselves. Once our deficient image of God has been corrected the scene is set for a more truly authentic prayer life.
